The Need
Only 9% of children in poverty affected areas complete secondary school
Girls in rural areas affected by poverty, on average, complete only four years of schooling. In contrast, girls in urban or affluent areas complete 13 years.
It’s estimated over 1 million children are out-of-school across the country.
About 71% of students complete primary schooling, but children from the poorest areas are 8x less likely to complete secondary school and are 10x less likely to have foundational reading skills.
